I'm a licensed psychologist in private practice in the Oakland/Rockridge Area. Many of my patients come to me looking for a specialist clinically trained to assess and treat specific disorders. I specialize in cognitive behavioral therapy and employ empirically proven treatment for many anxiety disorders, such as trauma, obsessions and compulsions, and panic attacks as well as mood disorders (e.g. Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder). Other patients seek therapy to cope with a stressful event, adjust to life transitions, or change problematic behavioral patterns. As a specialist, I provide clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. As your therapist, I will work with you to help make sense of your experiences and support you without judgment.

What can I expect?

We will have an initial consultation during which we get to know each other and then I administer a clinical assessment. We then talk about treatment recommendations and planning. I provide clinical expertise and teach my clients how to understand and manage problematic thinking and behaviors through skill building and self-awareness. This therapy is a different kind of experience as you are expected to play an active role in your treatment, including working with your therapist to outline treatment goals and completing questionnaires at the beginning of treatment and periodically during treatment to assess progress.  Engagement in treatment is a step in understanding yourself through increasing self-awareness and exploring thoughts and beliefs. You will be asked to complete homework assignments between sessions and your willingness to do this is an integral part of successful treatment.  If at any point you are unhappy about the progress, process, or outcome of the treatment, you can discuss it with me and I will attempt to resolve any difficulties that have arisen and modify the treatment plan as necessary.
